About Us

Fatima Robertson, DDS, PA

Luckily for the residents of Allen, anyone experiencing gum recession, gum disease, or needing implants or other oral plastic surgery need not leave town for treatment since periodontist Dr. Fatima Robertson opened for business in March of 2006. Known to her patients as the “gum gardener,” Dr. Robertson is committed to providing comprehensive, quality care.

Dr. Robertson received her bachelor’s degree and DDS simultaneously from the University of Missouri-Kansas City as part of an accelerated degree program. She worked as a general dentist for three years before returning to the University of Missouri for an advanced education program in periodontics. According to Dr. Robertson, her experience in general dentistry has enhanced her ability to serve her patients as a periodontists.

“Having a background in general dentistry allows me to broaden my perspective a bit,” she says. “A comprehensive approach to oral healthcare yields a properly phased treatment plan for the patient.”

Patients of Dr. Robertson can rest assured that they are always getting comprehensive care, as she is committed to making certain her patients are aware of any potential problems they may have, be it a crack in a tooth or a spot on the tongue. The consummate professional, she is a member of the American Association of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and North Texas Dental Society. Always striving for excellence, Dr. Robertson has completed numerous hours of continuing education in aesthetic periodontal surgery and has successfully completed the written examination to become a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. She sat for the oral examination this coming May and completed a quest she began some years ago. In addition to her many accomplishments, she was given the opportunity to participate in the prestigious Misch International Implant Institute in 2007.

Always striving to provide the best quality periodontal care, Dr. Robertson is equally committed to providing a relaxing environment for her patients. Oral sedation, IV sedation, and laughing gas are offered for those worried about office procedures. The office is designed to be relaxing as well, as it is decorated in cool colors and contemporary accents. Black and white photos on the wall offer patients a personal glimpse of Dr. Robertson, including several photos from her mission trip to Maracaibo, Venezuela, where, for two weeks, she provided dental treatment to children in an orphanage. The trip was meaningful for Dr. Robertson, and she hopes to go again soon. “It was so rewarding, but so hard to leave the children behind,” she says.

Dr. Robertson enjoys working in the town where she lives. Attracted to the small-town feel of Allen, she and her husband relocated to the area in 2003 because they felt Allen would be a great place to raise their three children, committed to her family, as well as her career, Dr. Robertson takes Fridays off to have lunch with children and volunteer, and her staff does the same.

In addition to providing treatment of gum disease, much of Dr. Robertson’s surgical practice is cosmetic, including procedures such as gum lifts, gum grafts to treat recession, and dental implants. Dr. Robertson inherited an eye for design and her skilled ability to use her hands from both her mother, who could design and sew just about anything, and from her father, a skilled carpenter. As an adult, she applied these talents, along with her love for science, into periodontics, and loves that her chosen career allows her to combine both art and science. However, perhaps the most rewarding aspect of her job is helping people. When someone has lost their teeth in a car accident or is self conscious about a gummy smile, Dr. Robertson loves the joy that comes from restoring their smiles and self esteem.

“Although it may sound cliché,” says Dr. Robertson, “healthy gums set the framework for a beautiful smile.”
