Crown Lengthening

Periodontics has close ties to other areas of dentistry. For example, sometimes a patient's gum line must be altered to allow room for a crown and to promote a nice seal between the gum and restored tooth. Smoothing uneven gum lines and reducing overgrown gum tissue are periodontal procedures associated with cosmetic dentistry.

Crown lengthening is the process of removing gum tissue to lengthen a tooth. Dr. Robertson offers crown lengthening in our Allen periodontal office, and many general dentists prefer to refer their patients to CEPI for periodontal surgery. Crown lengthening is a relatively short and prompt procedure that can be performed in one visit.
